JO KING

Jo King was born in 1959. The son of painters Jeremy and Brenda King.
He studied theatre at Dartington College of Arts.
After graduating in 1981 he moved to Holland where he lived and worked as a Cabaret
entertainer / musician and co founded the influential Titanic and the Icebergs with singer
Elkie Deadman and Bouncing Bubblegum with dancer Zoe Egerton.
In 1989 he returned to Britain to tour with Kneehigh Theatre in Cornwall.
Since then Jo has usually been associated with Horse and Bamboo Theatre, where he worked
full time as a performer, designer, tour manager and musician. (Guitar, sax, trumpet and keyboards).
Since 1997 his touring experience continued with The Fifty Foot Woman and Him (with percussionist Vicky Jassey)
Swervy World, Whitewood and Fleming and Pentabus Theatre.
In 1999 he co founded the musical cabaret duo King Villa with fellow Pentabus performer
Rachel Colles. The last King Villa show was the 2002 production "The Costa Del Vegas"
with Martin Pearson.
Jo's portrayal of Frank Sinatra first made an appearance along with a dazzling array of "guest superstars"
in the 2001 King Villa production, "The Eruption From Vegas".
He first realised that his body had been taken over by Mr. Sinatra while singing along to a
Frank album in his car in 1998 !!! Since then he has developed his Sinatra act on UK tours and Andalucia in Spain
where he lived for 4 years.
Jo is now based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and is currently working on a new King Villa show "Swingers In Suspenders"
with Harrogate's premier piano mistress, Alexi Harden.
The new show will be available from December 2008.
